Manchester United defender Jonny Evans has officially confirmed his retirement from international football for Northern Ireland. The
36-year-old has made 107 appearances for his country since making his international debut in 2006, making him the fourth-highest capped player for Northern Ireland.
Evans was also part of the squad that reached the last 16 of Euro 2016, their first major tournament in 30 years, and captained the side on 13 occasions.
“After careful thought and consideration, and after 18 years, I feel now is the right time to retire from international football. From making my debut in 2006 when we beat Spain, to my final game in June 2024 has been incredibly special for me,” Evans said to โปรโมชั่น ufabet.
“To wear the green shirt 107 times and represent Northern Ireland has been the ultimate honour for me. And to you, the fans, I have been incredibly proud to have represented you all on the pitch. Your unwavering support and love has never been underestimated.
“It has been a real honour to work with Jonny,” Northern Ireland manager Michael O’Neill said. “He was one of our finest players and his 107 caps speak for themselves. “Jonny has always shown
great leadership qualities but he is also very humble and always looked out for the rest of the team. He loved playing for his country and we will miss his quality and presence.”
